Laying & Installation Guide for Porcelain Paving
Porcelain paving is produced in batches, which means slight variations in colour and texture can occur. To achieve a consistent overall tone, always mix tiles from different packs before laying. Laying one full pack at a time may result in visible shade differences across your patio.
We also recommend noting the batch code of your tiles in case you need to order more later.
For installation, use a flexible jointing grout, ensuring it doesn’t dry on the tile surface. Many porcelain tiles are rectified, meaning they have precise edges for a sleek, seamless finish. They should be laid on an MOT Type 1 or GSB aggregate sub-base, ideally over a geo-textile membrane.
For best results:
✔ Set tiles on a 40mm full wet mortar bed (5:1 sharp sand to cement mix).
✔ Use a circular porcelain cutting blade (no teeth) with hand tools or a table saw with water dust suppression.
✔ Apply a priming slurry to the underside of each tile before laying to improve adhesion.
Following these steps ensures long-lasting, professional results for your porcelain paving.
