Plasterboard Sheets, Plaster & Drywall Supplies
Rose Building Supplies supplies plasterboard sheets, plaster and drywall accessories for walls, ceilings, partitions, dry lining and interior finishing projects.
Our range includes standard plasterboard, fire-resistant plasterboard, moisture-resistant plasterboard, acoustic boards, insulated plasterboard, finishing plaster, bonding plaster, angle beads, scrim tape and coving for both trade and DIY projects.
Which Type of Plasterboard Do You Need?
The right plasterboard depends on where it is being installed and what performance is required from the wall or ceiling system.
- Standard plasterboard - commonly used for internal walls, partitions, ceilings and general dry lining.
- Fire-resistant plasterboard - designed for applications where improved fire performance is required as part of a specified wall or ceiling system.
- Moisture-resistant plasterboard - suitable for humid areas where greater moisture resistance is required, such as suitable bathroom and kitchen applications.
- Acoustic plasterboard - designed to provide improved sound performance when used as part of an appropriate partition or ceiling construction.
- Insulated plasterboard - combines plasterboard with an insulation layer to provide an internal lining and thermal insulation in one board.
Always check the individual product specification and project requirements before ordering, particularly where fire, moisture, acoustic or thermal performance is required.
Standard Plasterboard for Walls & Ceilings
Standard plasterboard sheets are widely used for internal partition walls, ceilings, stud walls and dry lining projects.
Our range includes plasterboard in commonly used sizes and thicknesses, including 9.5mm and 12.5mm boards, with square-edge and tapered-edge options available depending on the product.
Square-edge boards are commonly used where the board will receive a plaster skim, while tapered-edge boards are designed to allow the joints to be filled and finished as part of a suitable dry-lining system.
Fire-Resistant Plasterboard
Fire-resistant plasterboard, sometimes called fire board or firecheck plasterboard, is manufactured to provide enhanced fire performance when used within a suitable wall or ceiling system.
Fire performance depends on the complete construction, including board type, number of layers, framing, fixings and installation method. Where a particular fire resistance rating is required, follow the specified system rather than selecting the board by colour or thickness alone.
Moisture-Resistant Plasterboard
Moisture-resistant plasterboard contains additives designed to provide greater resistance to humid conditions than standard plasterboard.
It is commonly selected for suitable kitchens, bathrooms and other areas where increased moisture resistance is required. It should not automatically be treated as a waterproof board, so always follow the manufacturer guidance and project specification for areas exposed to direct or persistent water.
Acoustic & Sound-Reducing Plasterboard
Acoustic plasterboard is designed to improve sound reduction when installed as part of a suitable wall, partition or ceiling construction.
The overall acoustic performance depends on the complete system, including framing, insulation, number of board layers, joints and installation details.
Insulated Plasterboard
We also stock insulated plasterboard and thermal laminate boards, which combine plasterboard with an insulation layer.
These boards can be useful in suitable internal wall and roof applications where both dry lining and improved thermal performance are required. You can also browse our wider insulation range for PIR boards, mineral wool, cavity insulation and EPS products.
Finishing Plaster & Bonding Plaster
Our plaster range includes finishing and undercoat plasters for different backgrounds and stages of the plastering process.
Finishing plaster is used to create a smooth final surface ready for decorating, while bonding or undercoat plaster is used to prepare suitable backgrounds before the finishing coat is applied.
Always select a plaster that is suitable for the background and intended application.
Plasterboard Accessories
Alongside plaster and plasterboard, we stock the accessories needed for installation and finishing.
- Angle bead - used to form and protect external corners.
- Scrim tape - commonly used to reinforce plasterboard joints before finishing.
- Coving - provides a decorative transition between walls and ceilings.
- Plasterboard fixings - used for attaching suitable fixtures to plasterboard and cavity walls.
- Drywall screws - designed for fixing plasterboard to suitable timber or metal framing.
Plastering Tools
For installation and finishing work, browse our plastering tools, including trowels, hawks, joint knives, mixing paddles, hand sanders and other tools for plastering and dry-lining projects.
How Many Plasterboard Sheets Do You Need?
Calculate the total wall or ceiling area in square metres and compare this with the coverage of the board size being used.
For example, a standard 2400x1200mm plasterboard sheet covers approximately 2.88m², while an 1800x900mm board covers approximately 1.62m².
You should also allow for offcuts, openings and waste depending on the shape and complexity of the project.
Square Edge or Tapered Edge Plasterboard?
Square-edge plasterboard is commonly selected where the full surface will receive a plaster skim.
Tapered-edge plasterboard has recessed long edges designed to accommodate jointing tape and compound, allowing joints to be finished without applying a full skim over the entire surface.
The most suitable board will depend on the required finish and installation method.
