Restore Faded Black Limestone Paving
Black limestone can gradually lose its original deep colour through outdoor weathering and exposure, leaving paving looking lighter, faded or grey.
Pavestone Black Stone Colour Rejuvenator & Sealer is specifically designed to restore depth and richness to faded dark paving, making it particularly useful for black limestone patios where the customer wants to recover a darker appearance.
The treatment also seals the surface, helping provide ongoing protection once the desired colour has been restored.
Black Stone Sealer & Colour Restorer in One Product
This product combines colour restoration and sealing in one treatment.
The black impregnating formula penetrates into suitable paving surfaces rather than simply forming a decorative surface film. It darkens faded stone while helping protect the paving against weathering, staining and further loss of colour.
This makes it different from a standard clear natural-finish sealer, which is intended to protect paving while making minimal change to its original appearance.
Suitable for Dark Grey & Black Stone
Pavestone Black Stone Colour Rejuvenator & Sealer is intended for faded dark grey and black natural or artificial stone.
Suitable materials include:
- Black and dark limestone
- Marble
- Slate
- Concrete pavers
- Suitable dark natural stone paving
- Suitable dark artificial stone paving
Always test a small inconspicuous area before treating the complete surface to make sure the resulting colour and finish are suitable.
Important - Permanently Darkens the Surface
Pavestone Black Stone Colour Rejuvenator & Sealer is a permanent staining treatment.
The product will deliberately darken the paving surface and can also darken grout or jointing material. Once applied, the colour change can be very difficult to remove.
For this reason, always carry out a trial application on a small inconspicuous area before treating the full patio or paved surface.
Up to 30m² Coverage Per Litre
A 1L container provides coverage of up to approximately 30m².
Actual coverage will vary according to the porosity and texture of the paving, the amount of product absorbed and the number of coats required to achieve the desired colour.
More porous or heavily weathered paving may absorb substantially more product than a dense or honed surface.
How Many Coats Are Required?
The number of coats required depends on the existing colour and the depth of finish required.
Pavestone allows further coats to be applied at approximately 2-hour intervals, up to a maximum of 3 coats.
Always assess the colour after each application rather than automatically applying the maximum number of coats.
How to Apply Pavestone Black Stone Rejuvenator & Sealer
Shake the container thoroughly before use and always test a small trial area first.
Ensure surrounding surfaces that are not being treated are adequately covered and protected.
Apply a small amount of product evenly across the surface using a suitable soft cloth or sealer applicator.
For rough-cut or textured paving, the treatment can be applied using a foam roller or suitable paint brush.
Allow the product to absorb and dry before assessing the colour. Where further darkening is required, additional coats can be applied at approximately 2-hour intervals, up to a maximum of three coats.
Application on Smooth or Honed Stone
When applying the sealer to honed or smoother surfaces, take particular care to achieve an even application.
Any excess sealer should be worked off using a soft cloth rather than being allowed to remain pooled or unevenly distributed across the surface.
Drying & Curing
Do not walk on the treated surface for at least 4 hours after the final application.
Allow the newly treated paving to cure for approximately 24 hours before returning it to normal use and carrying out any manufacturer-recommended final cleaning.
Application Temperature
Pavestone advises that Black Stone Colour Rejuvenator & Sealer should not be applied where the surface temperature is below 5°C or above 25°C.
Always select suitable dry weather conditions and follow the current product label and manufacturer instructions.
Black Stone Rejuvenator or Natural Finish Stone Sealer?
Choose Pavestone Black Stone Colour Rejuvenator & Sealer when dark grey or black paving has faded and you deliberately want to restore and deepen its colour.
Choose Pavestone Natural Finish Stone Sealer where the main requirement is protection while keeping the existing paving colour and appearance as unchanged as possible.
The Black Stone treatment is intentionally colour-changing, so the two products should not be considered interchangeable.
Black Stone Rejuvenator or Colour Enhancing Stone Sealer?
Pavestone Colour Enhancing Stone Sealer is intended to enrich and intensify the natural tones of general natural stone and concrete paving.
Black Stone Colour Rejuvenator & Sealer is a more specialised treatment designed specifically for faded dark grey and black paving and contains black pigmentation to restore a much darker appearance.
Preparing Paving Before Sealing
The paving should be thoroughly clean before treatment so dirt, staining and contamination are not sealed into the surface.
If necessary, use a suitable Pavestone paving cleaner first and allow the surface to dry properly before applying the colour rejuvenator and sealer.
Any existing sealer or surface treatment that could prevent the product from penetrating correctly should be considered before application.
