What Is a Saddle Back Coping?
A saddle back coping has a raised centre with sloping faces that fall towards both sides of the wall. This profile helps rainwater run away from the centre of the coping and towards the edges rather than remaining on the wall top.
This profile is also known as twice weathered because both sides are sloped for water run-off. The term describes the shape of the coping rather than the visual condition or finish of the concrete.
Installation & Appearance
Install the coping stones on a suitable mortar bed, ensuring consistent alignment and joint spacing along the wall. The coping should be positioned with a suitable overhang on both sides of the wall so that rainwater can shed effectively away from the masonry below.
